8 Reasons Parents Love
COMMUNITY Charter School!
It's not just the kids who love COMMUNITY Charter School; parents love it, too. Here are eight reasons why:
- Smaller class sizes with a teacher and teacher's aide.
Working one-on-one allows COMMUNITY Charter School's faculty and staff to better understand how each child learns. - Longer school year & school day.
This translates into more instruction time in the classroom - and makes sense for today's working families. - After-school program.
COMMUNITY Charter School's after-school program provides additional support to students, including help with homework. The program runs until 6 pm. - Uniform dress policy.
Not only is a uniform less expensive for parents, but it also reduces distractions for students, helping them remain focused. - Asset development program.
"Development Assets" are a set of 39 positive qualities, skills, experiences, and opportunities that are critical in the lives of students. The more assets that can be developed, the more likely students will grow into capable and caring individuals. - Student portfolios.
Student portfolios are assessment tools that allow teachers to better evaluate each child's progress. Portfolios consist of work completed by students within the four core disciplines: Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. - Individual learning plans.
At the beginning of each year, COMMUNITY Charter School's teachers meet with parents to develop instructional goals for each child. These plans provide another tool for measuring progress and also promote open communication between parents and teachers. - Bus transportation.
COMMUNITY Charter School offers bus transportation for any child living in the City of Buffalo. Students residing outside of the district must request transportation from their local school district prior to April 1st each year.
